Traveling for the holidays? Try these DIY decorations to make wherever you're staying feel like home.
Living in Jackson Hole, I am constantly getting questions about how to make a ski vacation rental house feel like home for the holidays. You don't have to invest in all new set of decor for your stay...there are simple ways to use grocery store finds to spruce things up.
Twizzler Stars
What You’ll Need:
Twizzlers + Twine
Make a star shape by crossing two or three Twizzlers together, then fasten with brown twine.
Message Bulbs
What You’ll Need:
Clear Ornaments + Brown Paper + Ribbon
Cut strips of paper and write Christmas-themed messages, then put into bulbs. Place top of ornament back on and tie up with a ribbon!
Dried Fruit
What You’ll Need:
Apples + Oranges + Paperclips + Twine
Slice your fruit and slowly dry in the oven (175 for an hours, then turn off oven and continue to dry overnight). Insert the paper or twine into dried fruit let you hang on the tree.
Cinnamon Sticks
What You’ll Need:
Cinnamon Sticks + Ribbon or Twine
Bundle 3-5 cinnamon sticks together, binding them with a bit of ribbon or twine.
Cranberry Garland
What You’ll Need:
Fresh Cranberries + Needle and Thread
With a needle and thread, string cranberries. Use knots to space out the berries.
Paper Star
What You’ll Need:
Brown Paper (you can use brown shopping bags!)
Cut a star shape. Fold and experiment with decorative cutouts!
Paper Garland
What You’ll Need:
Brown Raffia Paper
Stretch and shape your raffia paper into a ribbon-like shape. Tuck into tree branches to give a natural garland effect.
